Fraud Alert: Phone Spoofing Scam Targeting Members

Be aware of fraudsters impersonating Members 1st Credit Union card fraud services by calling members from what appears to be our phone number (530-222-6060 or 800-303-3838). Fraudsters rely on building trust through tone and detail to trick you into sharing personal information. Please be vigilant, these calls are not from Members 1st.

What to Watch For

  • Scammers may call claiming to be with Members 1st card fraud services referencing a fraudulent card transaction or similar suspicious account activity
  • They use generic spending patterns like "you shop at Amazon or Walmart" to gain your trust
  • They may present a fake badge number and sound professional and patient with well spoken English
  • They may present the first 6 digits of your card number and ask you for the remaining card numbers, expiration date, and CVV
  • Scammers may send you One-Time Passcode text messages claiming to help you block fraudulent transactions and mislead you into allowing your card to be registered to other fraudulent devices

How to Protect Yourself

  • Never share your full card number, CVV, Expiration Date or One-Time Passcodes with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly, even if the call looks like it's from us
  • Hang up immediately if something feels off and call us directly at (530) 222-6060
  • We will never ask for your full card number or One-Time Passcode over the phone
